James Henshaw
Founder and Artistic Director
James Henshaw is an Olivier nominated Opera, Choral and Orchestral Conductor based in Berlin where he enjoys a varied life as both coach and freelance conductor. He studied Music at Clare College, Cambridge, where he was a choral scholar and award winner as both conductor and pianist. He then went on to study repetiteuring at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. James has worked at many of the world’s top opera houses, including Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Hamburgische Staatsoper, English National Opera and L’Opéra de Rouen. He has conducted performances for English National Opera, Scottish Opera, Garsington Festival Opera, English Touring Opera and Longborough Festival Opera. This season he will make his debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Glyndebourne.

He studied at Clare College Cambridge where he was a choral scholar and award winner as both conductor and pianist. He then went on to study repetiteuring at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. James has worked at many of the world’s top opera houses, including Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Hamburgische Staatsoper, English National Opera and L’Opéra de Rouen. Oscar is a violinist, chamber musician and teacher at both Yehudi Menuhin School and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He directs the Langvad Jamboree Chamber Music Festival held annually in Denmark and is also currently working with a number of British orchestras including the CBSO, WNO and the Philharmonia.

Laura is a violin soloist, chamber musician, teacher and Festival Director. She is Founder and Artistic Director of the Romsey Chamber Music Festival.

Lucy brings a high level of expertise in music and festival management and marketing to the role. Previous posts include Concerts & Tours Manager for the Gabrieli Consort & Players, General Manager for La Nuova Musica, and Festival Manager for numerous organisations including London Festival of Baroque Music for many years.

Ramsay brings a high level of expertise in Pipeline and Order Forecasting, commercial negotiation, Customer Management and Strategic Development. This comes from many years of working as a Director on the Boards of private and quoted companies in the UK and internationally.

Based in London, Leo Melvin is the cellist of the Villiers Quartet. He graduated with honours from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he studied on a full scholarship, with Richard Lester. He has since been playing with LSO, LPO and Philharmonia orchestras in London, giving solo and chamber recitals, and teaching cello and piano. Leo has been Principal Cello of the Outcry Ensemble for over 5 years and has performed concerti with them as a soloist. He is currently on trial (as of 2024) for the Co Principal position of the LPO.
