Music for a Great City Festival
The Outcry Ensemble and conductor James Henshaw make a welcome return to SJSS to explore and celebrate London’s impact through the ages on musical culture. May’s concert, part of a festival that continues throughout the year, features Walton's renowned 1st Symphony, completed in the capital in 1935. This epic symphony sits alongside Haydn’s energetic London Symphony, his final work of the genre. This is complemented with a performance of a thought provoking string work by Isobel Waller-Bridge, a celebrated British composer whose music is equally at home in the concert hall and television screen.
